Fundraising History

ChemoCentryx was founded in 1997 and is privately held. Since our inception, we have raised capital from three sources: venture capital investors, government grants and investments/milestones from our partnerships. In private investment, we have raised more than $137 million from well-established East Coast, West Coast and international venture capital sources. Key investors include HBM BioVentures, Alta Partners, Techne Corporation, OrbiMed Advisors, LLC, HealthCap, GIMV, Hanseatic, Pictet, Jennison Associates, LLC and GlaxoSmithKline.

Additionally, we have raised another $23 million of capital from non-dilutive government grants. We were awarded two grants from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and two awards from the National Institutes of Health. This source of funds has allowed us to preserve value for our investors, support our research efforts, as well as to obtain peer validation of our efforts and approach.

ChemoCentryx's partnerships with pharmaceutical companies continue to provide an additional source of financing in the form of upfront payments, equity investment, development funding and milestone payments.
