Under a collaboration that was initiated in 1999, Amgen SF (formerly Tularik) is developing CXCR3 chemokine receptor agonists which were developed in the context of the collaboration for use in certain inflammatory conditions. Commercial terms are commensurate with those of an early stage research collaboration and include research funding, milestone payments and royalties of product sales.

In March 2004 we entered into a collaboration with Forest Laboratories to develop and commercialize novel small molecule therapeutics for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. The collaboration focuses on worldwide rights to drugs targeting CCR1, a specific chemokine receptor involved in inflammation. Under the terms of this agreement, Forest takes the lead in clinical development of any leads discovered by ChemoCentryx focused on the CCR1 receptor. To support ChemoCentryx' research efforts, Forest is providing funding for a joint research program for up to three years. ChemoCentryx receives upfront, research and milestone payments, as well as significant royalties for products arising from the collaboration, and, importantly, ChemoCentryx maintains the option to participate in the co-development and co-promotion of products in the U.S. The first compound from this collaboration is expected to begin clinical trials during 2005.
